This engine is a 1776cc with engle 100 cam, twin dellorto DRLA 36's and full flow external filter. Twin port heads have standard valves with hd single valve springs, hd collets and retainers, bolt up rocker shafts with standard ratio rocker arms. 8.5 to 1 compression ratio.
Case has mounts for baywindow engine bar so can be fitted an beetles splitscreen and baywindows.
The VW 1600 twinport engine block I used to build this 1776 had only done 3000 miles from new. This means the case is as new along with the crank, rods and heads.
The case was sent to Reichspeed and machined for 90.5 barrels, drilled for full flow return and oil galleries drilled and plugged. The oil gallery from the oil pump has been plugged too along with outlet on oil pump. After machining the relief valves were removed, oil galleries flushed and case hot washed.
Engine has been assembled with:-
Vw AS41 duel relief case with 8mm head studs
New 8mm case hardware including head nuts/washers
New steel backed main bearing(standard size)
New cam bearings
New big end bearings
New AA performance 90.5 barrels and pistons
Vw forged 69 mm crank
Vw standard rods
Engle 100 cam with matching HD followers
Dissy drive end flow set .030"
New 30mm Shadek pump with outlet plugged
New sealing oil pump nuts
New CSP full flow cover with pressure relief valve
200 mm flywheel with new bolt
Endfloat set to .003"
Auto linea twinport heads machined for 90.5, de-coked and valves re-lapped, HD springs/collets/retainers
New boltup rocker shafts and standard ratio rockers
New aluminium rocker covers
New sump plate and strainer.
New pushrod tube and HD pushrods.
New oil filter housing, Mahle oil filter, hose and fittings
New Scat Pulley and bolt
Internal reg alternator with new fan, new hub kit, new front pulley, new belt and new pulley bolt
All new tinware with Scat 30hp fan housing
New alternator pedestal and alloy oil filler
Twin dellorto 36's, 30 vents, 122 mains, 60 idles, 180 air, 9164.2 emulsion
New manifolds and centre swivel linkage
New pertronix coil, 3ohm
New german quality HT leads
New Beru dissy cap, rotor arm, points and condenser
Bosch SVDA distributor
New Malpassi filter king regulator
New mechanical pump, pedestal and push rod
New bosch spark plugs
Quality Elring gasket kit and new flywheel seal
As you can see most of the parts for this engine are new, no expense has been spared.
The engine has only been bench run and covered 0 miles since all this has been done.
This was build with reliability and drivabilty in mind so I could use my bug every day and cruise with modern traffic. Starts very easily after a few blips of the throttle it ticks over, great considering the cold weather and no chokes.
The cam has been broken in, timing set and tickover adjusted. I have used Halso aircooled 15w40 oil, this oil has been designed for the Vw aircooled engine and has a high zinc content which the Vw aircooled engine needs. There are no air filters fitted but are on order and will be fitted before collection, will be standard oval 85mm items.
I have used j tubes and a standard exhaust to run the engine up but are not included, there is no clutch either. You will have to add these to suit your vehicle.
