I noticed a few months ago that there are brackets on my '66 Beetle, on the inner rear wheel arch, that seem to serve no purpose. I tried searching for a name or an image, but without success.
Today I spotted the image below on eBay (hope the seller doesn't mine me using it the pic) which clearly shows this brackets in use. On my car, the bracket circled is not attached to anything. Is this a cause for concern? My car is lowered and has KYB shocks, if that's of any consequence.
