Just looking for ideas folks :mental:
Drove from the Warwickshire to summerset yesterday all fine engine ran like a Swiss timepiece. Pulled into services let engine tickover for a few mins to cool with fan running. Started fine and we carried onwards for about an hour pulled into the campsite and promptly the van died on tick over . Now running rough as donkeys Arse.
So what have I done .
1 checked for air leaks on the manifold ,carb ,rubberboots and where the heads join. All good
2.Swapped the plugs for new ones (Bosch) they where a little sooty but other wise good.
3. Full charge on battery I stuck on charge last night.
4.new dizzy cap ( running electronic rota arm not messed with it)
5.plug leads are new 1 week old and in good nick.
6. Popped off rocker covers and checked valve clearance all good even got the wife to hand turn the engine with a socket on the fan all looks fine everything moves when it should.
7. Fuel into carb when arm pulled nice spray( not keen on stripping the carb on a campsite) lol
8. Screwed in the idle screw in 1 turn (made a little or no difference)
9. Hand turned the engine all Pistons feel like they have the same compression.
Right now it starts fine and if you give it a little gas it's lumpy like a cold morning start. I've not driven on the road for a shakedown because if it stops and the wife is still at the campsite all hell will be unleashed.
Engine is a 1600 twin port upright bug engine in a bus.
Good bits I'm in the aa
Bad bits we are meant to be on the way to north Devon tomorrow :(
So anything I've missed oh great wise folk
On the plus side I've just cooked a nice tea
Yours stuck in a field 6t7
