just over a year ago we had a tow bar fitted to what was then a brand new 14 reg qashqai (new shape).
the tow bar fitter had to use a longer exhaust hanger stop it hitting.
its been fine, no problem since we had it fitted.
a few months ago I was in a prang...three new doors :(
cars all fine (aston and bentley authorised repairers :D)
I say this because Im not sure whether it may have something to do with it.
Every things been fine and dandy.
On my way home from the school run last friday I could here a knocking, after checking, its the exhaust hitting the towbar mount.
Now when we had it fitted there was around a two/three finger gap between the two.
when the car is stationary the gaps the same, the car is fine while driving for a bit, but then its starts to catch again, stop the car and theres only around a one finger gap, and you can move the exhaust left to right and it hits really easy, bit of a weird one, if I leave it for a while then have another check its fine.
question, is it possible for the exhaust to have moved backwards?, can it even do that?.
Not so much in the prang as its been fine for around two months,(maybe it loosened something) but I have to go over some hefty speed pumps on the school run, it seems to be after going over these....or could the hanger have stretched? or something
you can see none dirty metal on the car hanger mount where the rear hanger is as if the hanger is moving back and fore.
