I have twin carb manifolds which will be going on with twin 36 IDFs. The manifolds that I have are the usual cheaper 48mm diameter ones. I know its not great to have the diameter difference but can't afford posh manifolds at the right diameter...
has anyone attempted to add material to bring in the diameter of these manifolds to match your carbs? I guess the main issue is whatever you use must be strong enough not to break off and head down to the engine, and be immune to corrosion from fuel... Any thoughts? Not being a cheapskate, just like to find solutions.
I was thinking there must be a fuel resistant potting compound of some sort. you could use plastic waste pipe as the new profile (easy-ish to shape the end to sit in the profile of the manifold lower down) and then fill the outside with potting compound to hold the pipe in place and give support.
Thoughts?
