For Sale BN4 Eberspacher

$

Hi,

I have another petrol eberspacher for sale - i bought this purely to get hold of the ducting and switch i needed for my refurbished one!

I`m not sure how to wire it exactly so haven`t attempted to fire it up. Its a bit dirty but to be honest, it looks like it may work if all connected up.

It includes the top cover, exhaust and outlet ducting apart from the final bit which passes through the firewall.

£160 - pickup or courier would be £10

cheers, Mike

As it's gonna be a busy illustration - and as the weather is crap - I thought I'd start early . . .

Again, hopefully some kind soul will bid on it and raise a few quid for a good cause. :)

Sandrail IRS Conversion 944 S2

A brief summary of project Rail-As2

This is my 1600 Fugitive II Sandrail

Decided to go to an IRS rear end, mainly for the fun of it, but also as a suspension/brake improvement prior to an engine swap. Hopefully someone will find this of interest.

Before

I bought an eBay S2 rear end with the alloy arms and CV's. Also bought a handbrake set up as it was missing.

I made a jig, then chopped the torsion bar tube up so I could re use the brackets - to use the after market brackets and bushings was going to be £125 in extra parts of a lower quality!

Welded these on reusing cut off bits of the tube to make spacers between the larger Porsche tube and the beetle one. They wrap round about 250 degs. then the spacers lock them in place.

Drilled and tapped the beetle handbrake ends to fit the Porsche handbrake

Fabricated a gearbox mount for a 002 bus box - the 100mm Porsche CVs fit straight on and are the perfect length. Used a single Landrover engine mount on the front and BMW transmission mounts on the rear.

Had a template made to re-drill the wheels to 5x130 from 4x130 and used a 5mm steel Porsche wheel "spacer" as a backing plate to make them hub-centric.

After extensive research I got a pointer from here and I bought Golf Mk4 150/180hp Calipers (for 288mm discs). Then de-rusted and painted them. Sprang for a new set of Porsche discs ( which are 299mm x 24mm), and with a tiny bit of alloy removal they fit and work just fine.

I had previously chopped off the awful cannons and replaced with used Hayabusa exhausts that work great.

After

Total time 4 weeks of evenings (figuring out the gearbox mount took a week!)

Cost inc delivery (roughly from what I remember!)

Porsche S2 Turbo rear + CVs £150
Handbrake parts £75
002 bus box £120
Wheel template £7.50 ( Lasermaster)
Golf Brakes £30
Wheel nuts £20
22mm 60deg Countersink to match nuts £10
2 x new Porsche Discs £63 (carparts4less)
Golf pads £15
Flexi mounts x 3 £17
M14 shock mount bolts £10

Engine Flywheel seal flush or set in?

$
0
0
Hi - just stuck a spare engine in the back of my van as a temp measure - the car it was in used to drip a little from the flywheel seal so I thought I'd swap a new one in. I installed it flush with the case and used my cb fitting tool. I renewed the o ring aswell and all surfaces look clean and smooth

Today took the van for a quick drive - I've never seen an engine leak so badly - it is literally a full on constant drip drip even with the engine off.

Should that seal be flush or pushed in to the step?

Can't believe I'll have to pull the engine again!

Thanks mike

What’s would a draw through turbo 1600 bug be worth

$

Hi all I have a 1972 1200 VW Beetle that is now running a 1600 twin port draw through turbo set up using a Weber dcoe 40 carb and a aireserch turbo ( a Garrett T3 turbo ) witch is able to hit 14psi boost. Anyway the bug is in very good condition solid floor pan and heater channels and no rust anyway. Interior is all there but drivers seat has a rip on it. The bug has a stock width adjustable beam, rear adjustable spring plates, disc brakes up front.
So any idea of what is might be worth?
