Engine Engine Help Please

Good morning,

My friend has a T25 1.6 air cooled T25 camper. One of the piston rings failed and put engine oil everywhere . Loads in the exhaust pipes.

The piston rings , gaskets , seals where replaced. Also due to the amount of oil that was in the silencer, it was changed.

Now when the engine is run, there is a little blue smoke , but under pressure you get big clouds of blue smoke, turning to white smoke. But then when back on idle every now and then the revs drop and a puff of blue smoke comes out. The revs go back up to idle and smokes for a min or so, then no smoke for a while, then blues smoke with drop revs so on.

Can anyone help.

I'm after one for a bit of fun and to tick a box in my life goals!

I know iit'llbe expensive to run but what are the other issues besides being old and worn out! I know they have rusty arch issues and the hydraulic lines need to be kept on top of.
Anything else major?

Itll only be used a few weekends a year.

Brakes Kevlar Drum Break Pads

Hi.
Has any one installed Kevlar Break pads, or racing pads to a 71 Beetle with Drum breaks.
If so could you let me know where to get them from.

I read somewhere that getting a Kevlar pad upgrade on the drum break makes them nearly as good as disc breaks.

Engine Low oil pressure on my new 2276 motor

Hi all got an issue and need some ideas on what could be going on. I have a new 2276 motor that idles well and runs good and has 15psi oil pressure at idle. Now this is the problem if I increase the rpm the oil pressure increase and if I slowly reduce the rpm the oil pressure reduces so far so good BUT when I allow the rpm to fall fast like a gear change or going into neutral from 3000rpm the idle will fall down to 850 rpm but the oil pressure will fall to ZERO on my gauge and the stock oil warning light is also set off for a few seconds then the oil pressure is back up to 15 psi at idle. Does this make sense?
Any ideas on what's going on?

So after 18 years of not having a beetle I decided (was told I was allowed) to get another. I had been searching for my old bug from when I were a lad and even though I came close to finding it the opportunity for this one came up. should make me a good usable project car to use on dry days around the T4.

GPS signal lost regularly on Android phone

My phone which has performed great Google Maps sat-nav duty has had issues with the GPS signal getting lost recently.

Maybe it's the warm weather?!

Electrics Are these the correct connectors?

Learning as I go along, wiring dash lights to switches ...

The spade connectors I got are 2.8mm, which looked to be the right size for the terminals on the lights, but they really don't go on very firmly. I would expect them to vibrate off in due course.

So do I have the right connectors for these lights? They are a bit weird, with the main terminal and like a smaller flat wire together.

If they are right, how can I improve the security of the connection? Will shrink tubing them help?

General What wheels ya got on your type 3?

Hi all.
Just bought a 68 fastback, so got 4x130 pcd with discs uo front.
Keen to change the steels for some alloys.
I have got a set of wide 5 brm's sitting in the garage.
Wasn't sure whether adapters will increase the track too much [standard width beam] or new discs & drums or redrilled to wide 5, 5x112 or 5x130 & get some fuchs on there?
Confused!
Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions based on what they have done, ideally with photos.

Hi guys im am looking to get an older t5 as a daily driver i dont have alot of money so looking cheap as possible,im not worried about high milers etc,what do i need to look for best engines etc,the othere option would be to buy a builders van and convert to a combi?any advice would be great cheers matt (im looking to get one after the summer high)

1972 Early Bay Panel Cross Over,

These right hand panel vans are getting rare !!!

A genuine right-hand drive which are becoming very rare is comes with mot and also taxed exempt. I’m only selling the bus as i need the money to put towards a Splitscreen or into a house purchase Undecided..

Outside

The bus is painted in savannah beige and the top roof in a pearl white. It has a few rust marks being 44 years old so don’t expect a perfect looking panel van.

Inside

3x keys fits all locks and barrell.
Complete interior re-trim including front seats, sliding door, full panel internal which has been recently carried out in Beige/Chocolate Brown with a full rock width and roll bed.
New trimmed matching front door cards.
New fully trimmed headliner.
New rear complete flooring.

Engine and brakes

1641 Turnkey engine, runs perfect as just spent £2500 on a full mechanical overhaul rebuild (last week), all the work carried out
by Nigel & Sons in Cornwall very respective & professional service carried out.
Alternator converted, Steering is also very good it does have a slight play but only small enough amount to remind you that you’re in a 44 year old bus.

Suspension and wheels

Lowered all round very good quality not the bone rattling effect, i can’t remember the make of the shocks/springs.
Alloys x4 BRMs.
Tyres all x4 legal.

Overall

This is a really nice rare VW right-hand panel van, I’ve spent a lot of money on it with mostly being on the engine and the interior. It’s not a show winning bus but its certainly has the potential to be a very high standard looking bus.

Its nice enough to camp in straight away and mechanically sound that will allow you to drive anywhere very well with good steering and brakes. It’s slightly low but very drivable and very noticeable when being driven.
There are a few jobs still need doing, the sliding door rail has had better days and has alot of rust in the corner of the door which either needs to be cut out or maybe change the whole sliding door, the rear passenger side quarter has a scuff mark on the panel.

Price

This is not the easiest part to decide on, however I will sell for £7750 ono or Without the engine £6250 Ono.

I think this is a realistic price as what I have spent on the Bus to get it where it is today.

May part exchange.

I am after a rough price / guide to construct a 6m by 6m garage. Brick lower with a people dashed top half to match the house. It will be seperate to the house. Double or 2 single doors

Flat roof or pitched roof quotes appreciated. I would need the work done from the beginning but may be able to dig footings
